Saban a target for PSU job
« on: December 29, 2011, 10:03:25 AM »
Quote
"I told you yesterday Jones that it was not Munchak. If you want the truth and not the usual garbage you spew, it's Nick Saban. How do I know? Someone in my family recently donated $$,$$$,$$$. The contract is for 6 years, $48million. The school is paying $5m/yr, and the rest is coming from the Nike contract. He'll be making 60% more than anyone in college football.

Sounds ridiculous right? No it's not. Saban and his wife are from West Virginia and Nick grew up going to Penn State games with his dad. Saban also never really wanted to leave Michigan State as his closest friends are Tom Izzo and Dantonio. From what I was told, it was Lubert, Parker, and Delaney who were the power brokers behind this deal. This is a huge power play for everyone involved...Penn State, Nike, and the Big Ten.

I keep hearing theres going to be an announcement on Jan 3rd or 4th. That's not true either. The official announcement won't happen until the middle of January. Saban will have two weeks to try and salvage this recruiting class, but from what I was told this is of no concern. I'll be back in January to remind you once again I was right."

I don't think this is even a possibility. Why would Saban leave to go rebuild a program that has the problems that PSU does? I just got a bit of a laugh out of this, so figured I would share.

Ditto!  I would love to see where this came from, MDB.  Do you have a link or a website where I can check this out?

This site is rediculous. Take a post from a user and make it a story? For real?

I had to post.  Here's what I said:

"These comments are hilarious.  Some are chomping at the bit to welcome CNS to Penn State, while others are calling him names.  I wonder how many of the detractors would change their tune if this actually happened?  I have always respected Penn State and its fans, but with the current developments surrounding the University I doubt very seriously CNS or any other high profile coach would accept if offered.  And to say Nick Saban has accomplished everything he can at Bama is just ignorant.  The best is yet to come.  He's a recruiting machine, and he won't give up that hard work to come to a program that is in many ways struggling.  Sorry guys, but this won't happen.  Good luck with the coaching search."

Very nice reply.  Some have said on there that they don't want a cheater... good luch finding a coach that hasn't ever broken a single rule.

Being a Realist
I have wondered many times
(If Saban left - where would he go?)

And giving it my best shot- NOT
to be a Bammer.

I can't think of a place- save MAYBE Notre Dame
(And these days- thats a huge Maybe)

He might go- and accomplish his goals.
and there's No Place that will give him the Fan support we do.

And if you don't think thats big (To Him)
Think again.

He likes his Players and his Fans
as ANNAL as he is.

And until someplace else offers more
(And I don't mean $)

I say he stays.

If he had'nt already left 2 other positions
(Trying to find his way)
I'd feel different.

But what do I know.

I'm just the 300 pound  BM
in the room...............

No  - but I'm on my way
you can't imagine how much Punkin pie- home-made cookies
ham and bottles of beer it takes  - to add up to 300lbs.

That should be a math question- for a 5th grader
I can see it now......................

Can't see this happening either.
Why would you leave a place like Bama, where you can have it your way, for any other place.
Saban has a really good thing going here and I can't see him passing up on becoming the next great legend in college football here at Alabama.

Add to the fact it would pull him far away from the lake, and also I do beleive his wife loves the Bama family as well, I dont see it happening, I think he plays out the next 5 years (could be less) at Bama, I think he will coach until hes 65 then retire...but what do I know
