I'm just sayin' Take Me To Vegas BABY!

As you all know I am a Crimson Tide football fan and the past two years have been unbelievable for our team.  After being on campus and experiencing 2 years of the Shula era, and 1 year of the Saban rebuilding process I was so excited when the Alabama Crimson Tide won the 2010 National Championship.  I was 8 years old when we won the title in ’92 and I remember nothing of it.  So for the younger generation this championship meant so much.  Seeing the buzz that something like this created has been the joy of a lifetime, but it just started my year.  That was January 7th, our boys took the fight to the Texas long horns and we left Pasadena once again champions.  

As if that wasn’t enough for me, I’m also a huge Duke Blue Devils basketball fan.  I have read all of Coach K’s books, and I love the way they play basketball.  It’s the way I grew up playing it.  Teamwork, dedication, hard work on and off the court, and discipline is all aspects of each players’ lives is what Coach K demands.  Sounds familiar doesn’t it?

On April 5th, the Duke Blue Devils defeated the Buter Bulldogs to take the 2010 National Championship.  I did not think that this Duke team had what it took, but they did.  My dreams had come true… Duke and Alabama both winning national championships in the same year, wow!

Then last night, it just so happened that my Los Angeles Lakers beat the Boston Celtics.  They were down big time in the first half and they came back to win the game.  Again the center piece of that is, what I believe, to be the best coach that has ever coached in the NBA, Phil Jackson.  Who by the way is a brilliant author who has wrote multiple books, and I have read every one of them.

So in the same year, in fact in 6 months all 3 of the teams I root for all won their respective championships.  And I’m not genius by any means, but to me that would mean THAT I’M ON THE ROLL OF A LIFETIME take me to VEGAS and let me ROLL THOSE DICE!

I’m just saying, it wouldn’t hurt!

I pulled for all of those except your Lakers RTR, I was/am a huge Larry Bird fan and thought the Bird/McHale/Parrish error vs. the Magic/Worthy/Kareem era was about as good as basketball will ever get, I guess I have to say it and many will disagree to me the greatest basketball player to ever step on a court was ole 33, there were many who had more atletic ability and could jump out of a gym dunking/cutting anyway you want but nobody ever showed more heart and desire to win to me than Larry Bird on a basketball court, in his last few years the guy had to lay in traction before games just to play, and then now all you see is its all about the money. I know many will disagree and say Oh no MJ was the best and granted he certainly was one of the best ever but there was just something about those 80's basketball battles and when it was the lakers vs. celtics (untill their bodies were worn out) it couldnt get any better, being you like Duke I know you appreciate Larry Birds work ethic and heart as it seems many Duke players fall in persona, well now I have talked to much but guess I had to plug one for Larry Bird who seems to get forgotten now adays, so there you Larry , long live your legend!*S*
