I agree with your assessment on the 3 titles that you have taken away (hard to be champs when you lose the bowl game) but I would add 2 more to the plus side. Those two being the 1966 and 1977 titles. 66 has been mentioned but the two teams that claim that year ND and MSU tied each other and played mo bowl games. We destroyed an undefeated Nebraska team in our bowl game and were undefeated a.s untied. The 1977 team was 3 going into the bowls and top 2 teams lost. We destroy OSU I'm sugar and ND jumps us even though they lost to ole miss who we beat! Totally bs and one that I count. So that gives us 12 in my mind.

My typing misses a few letters now and then on this phone of mine lol! Just so that we are clear, ND and MSU did not play in a title game in 66 they tied each other late in the season when both were 1 and 2. Again, they jumped preseason alabama before we played a game! We go undefeated and never move back up. Just the times www were in back then with george Wallace at the university doors. Tough times I clearly understand but font punish the football team with media bias. 77 team I mentioned but ND who was the consensus champ, still can't figure that one out, jumped from 5 to 1 because they beat an earl campbell"less" Texas team. ND had gotten beat by ole miss who we beat by 20 plus. Our only loss was on the road to Nebraska. Hmmm quality loss neb. Or ole miss let me think lol! So twelve to me sounds entirely fair to claim as championships.

thanks for the honest input, Jazz. 10, 12, 13, 17 it really doesn't matter what we claim, its alot more than most have 8)

Bamajazz, glad to see how to understand it. Very good explanation. I think from here on we will leave no doubt. When we are over, we will the number 14, and 15 sooner. RTR!

I'm claiming the 13 with bells on and singing my Bama praises while drinking the crimson koolaide. If we went back to every school since the beginning of national titles and picked thru every game, how many schools would legitimately deserve the titles they have? NCAA recognizes the 13, so 13 it is in my book. Great discussion tho guys! ;)

We don't rush the fields after a big game, we don't tear down field goals, we don't do "blackouts", we don't use stretch limos to get noticed. We just work 365 days to dominate. We win championships. This is Alabama football. A is enough...

The 1941 season is the most controversial. Bama actually finished 9-2 b/c we won the sugar bowl that year. Back then their were 14 "selectors" that voted for the national title. Minnesota won the AP, but Bama did have 1 selector vote, and thusly have our claim to the title as well. So it really isnt bogus for that reason. Texas can also claim a title for that year as well.

I read several articles online tonight, and some say that Bama could actually claim as many as 17! Which is just crazy...I'm glad I wasnt around for those days! We would have welcomed the BCS compared to those days.

I've never really considered 1941 worth bragging about.  I think, if we can "claim" titles, I claim (or trade in 1941 for) 1966, the undefeated two time champs Alabama, totally jipped by Notre Dame and Michigan States pathetic tie
