Those Sunfish are about as cool  as it gets .
I tried for over an hour 1 time to try and hook one up
on a grass line 1 time.
It never ate.
I just wanted to hear an 80 wide sing after a whole weekend of barely misses
in a tournament about 5 years ago.

And that thing was bigger than my first car.
And just sat beside the boat forever.
The only thing that is close is a whale shark.
At least to me- or maybe a Pilot Whale.

The Ocean is an Adictive thing.
1 day- your in Heaven-Drinking beer and fishing.
The next day -getting  butt kicked by 6 to 8 footers.
You never know.

Yeah, I don't know what Sunfish, or Mola-Mola as some people call them, even eat. I assume they eat fish but they may eat grass or something. The first one we saw was laying on it's side in a grass line and it looked like a 4x8 piece of plywood with eyes laying there. The other one (may have been the same one) was down deep and positioned upright itself right over a barge we were diving on and let us swim right up to it. That was one of the most amazing encounters I've ever had. That's been a couple years ago and I haven't seen one since. Have you seen any lately, Blue?

Nope
have'nt seen one since before the oil spill
but have seen several Pilot whales
and whale sharks
but no Sunfish.

And I think I heard they eat Jellyfish
and besides being slimmed- I have no idea
how to hook that up as bait.

We have been deep dropping some this summer
and catching things at 500 to 800 feet of water
that I have no idea what they are.
We have'nt caught any dofish yet
but I know thats coming.
